hy-ah-SIN-thus or-ee-en-TALL-iss 'Splendid Cornelia'

Deciduous Perennial in the Asparagaceae Family
Note: Spring ephemerals have evolved take advantage of sunlight which penetrates deciduous forests before the trees fully leaf out and then shut down for the year by the end of spring to rest until the next year. When buying them in summer you typically won't see anything above the ground until the next April!

About Hyacinths

Common Hyacinth produces a single dense spike of small, waxy, strongly fragrant flowers in early-to-mid spring, in shades of blue, purple, pink, red, and white depending on selection. Bulbs are planted in fall for spring bloom and naturalize well in Zones 4a-8b, though flower size often diminishes in subsequent years compared to the first spring after planting.
