Purple Pavement is a hardy rugosa shrub rose bred by Karl Baum in Germany in 1983, part of the German 'Pavement' (Rugosa Pavement) series bred for dense, low-growing landscape use. It bears purplish-pink, semi-double blooms with a strong, clove-like fragrance from late spring through summer, followed by showy red-orange hips in fall alongside golden foliage. Its coarse, deeply veined (rugose) foliage and compact, suckering habit make it a tough, disease-resistant choice for hedges and mass plantings.
