Buddleja x weyeriana 'Bicolor' is part of the x weyeriana group (a hybrid of B. davidii and B. globosa first bred by Major William van de Weyer in England during WWI); this particular selection was raised in 1999 by Michael Dirr at the University of Georgia. Its dense flower clusters open a rich violet-purple and fade to a warm gold-orange, giving each spike a genuinely two-toned look, set off by gray-green foliage. Fast growing and sweetly fragrant, it blooms from midsummer into fall and draws butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.
