'Peve Minaret' is a compact, pyramidal form of the Bald Cypress that typically reaches 4-6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity. It has a tightly upright, almost columnar growth habit with dense, finely textured foliage. The delicate, needle-like leaves of 'Peve Minaret' are arranged in a feathery, distichous (two-ranked) pattern along the branches. In the spring, the new foliage emerges bright green, transitioning to a soft, blue-green for the summer. In the fall, the leaves turn an attractive copper or russet color before dropping. This cultivar is well-suited for smaller landscapes and urban settings due to its more restrained size and pyramidal form compared to the larger, spreading habit of the species. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, acidic, well-drained soils, although it is adaptable to a range of soil types. Taxodium distichum 'Peve Minaret' is hardy in USDA Zones 5-9 and is valued for its distinctive, architectural silhouette, seasonal color changes, and tolerance of wet, poorly-drained sites. It makes an excellent specimen tree, accent plant, or addition to rain gardens and riparian plantings.
